316 The staff of the department functions as a team intradepartmentally.	PI.1.1 These activities are collaborative and interdisciplinary. LD.2.2 Directors coordinate and integrate services within their department and with other departments. TX.1.2 Care is planned and provided in an interdisciplinary collaborative manner by qualified individuals. *Note - JCAHO standards do not specifically address intradepartmental teamwork. JCAHO standards focus on interdepartmental or interdisciplinary (functional approach).
DIRECTOR 321 the director meets all of the criteria expected of the professional staff.	HR.1 The hospital’s leaders define the qualifications and performance expectations for all staff positions. LD.2. Each hospital department has effective leadership. LD.2.11 Departments that are not medical staff services that provide patient care are directed by one or more qualified professionals. LD.2.11.1 Responsibility for administrative direction and clinical direction is defined in writing. LD.2.11.2 A qualified professional with appropriate clinical training and experience is responsible for the clinical direction of patient care. LD.2.11.3 When a department has more than one director, the responsibilities of each are clearly defined in writing.
